As a married teacher couple, we had the pleasure of working with Mr. Martin at Nile Valley School American in Sudan, and we are honored to share our experiences. Mr. Martin was an exceptional leader who thrived on excellence and perseverance. He created a warm, vibrant environment that gave us the confidence to be better teachers. We were impressed with Mr. Martin’s ability to respect tradition while using a modern approach to finding solutions and optimizing results. His conduct with students was exemplary, as he was easy-going, supportive, and above all, a good listener. His caring and empathy were reflected in his decision-making and the mindful way he interacted with every person in the school, from the board members to the parents to the cleaners.

As a leader, Mr. Martin valued our thoughts and gave us the freedom to be creative, while also respecting Sudanese culture. He brought discipline and joy to Sudan during a time of chaos, and we are grateful for his presence and desire to come to Sudan at that time.

We both learned a great deal from Mr. Martin, and we consider him the best Principal we have worked with. Nile Valley School American will miss him very much, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
